27 June 2011

Seeing rivers of rain winding down the sidewalk and streets, pouring off the eaves of the porch where this person is seated.
The monster tree that takes up the whole front lawn with darkened, wet skin & leaves dripping water droplets.
Lights on inside houses where everyone else is cozied up while the rain comes down.

Smelling rainwater. Wet dirt.
Occasional whiffs of shampoo from the just-washed, damp hair.

Feeling the tootsies snuggled in their favorite slippers from Aliza, now raggedy from years of housing the always chilly feet.
The favorite blanket with soft, woven threads, keeping the bare legs nice and warm.
Splashes of rain on the face when the wind blows.
Happy.
In love.

Tasting hot steamy coffee that warms all the way down to the slippered toes.

Hearing the favorite sound of dropping, splashing, pattering rain
On the ground, against the pavement, off the rooftop, into puddles.
The favorite windchimes clink-clonking against each other.
Constant rumbles of thunder far-off,
And big smashing booms not-so-far-off that make this person jump.
And hope this day lasts all day.
